Message from the President - November 2025

With the Melbourne Cup Day sprint behind us, many of us are looking to wrap up 2025 with a mix of relief, reflection, and perhaps a little reprieve in the sunshine.

Speaking with many of you, it’s clear that 2025 hasn’t been without its challenges. The broader landscape continues to be complex, change is now baked into business-as-usual, and at the centre of it all sits communication professionals - the one constant that shapes uncertainty into understanding.

The relevance and power of communication professionals was brought to life so beautifully at our Deb Ganderton Oration with former Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp AO. What struck me most was the sheer tenacity and consistency required to turn a big idea, such as the Greenline that reimagines Melbourne’s city riverbank, into a reality.

That same “long game” applies to all of us. While this year may not have been the most straightforward, it’s also been one of growth and adaptation for all.

Thanks to the generous support of our partner WorkVivo, we are thrilled to share that IABC Victoria members can bring a plus one to the EOY Mingle, so grab your comms friend, colleague, or peer, and we look forward to seeing you at the rooftop for festive drinks.

So, as we head into the home stretch, make sure you finish 2025 on a high.

Whether you’ve taken on a new role, led through change, kept the wheels turning, or are exploring new horizons - join us on the rooftop at State of Grace on Wednesday 19 November, 5.30pm for a festive evening of celebration and community building.

This is one for all communication professionals, regardless of expertise, seniority or organisation type.

We promise it will fill your cup! We can’t wait to see you there.
